Climate Change

The Paris Agreement was adopted at the 21st Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2015 and entered into force on 4 November 2016. It brings together countries' contributions to tackling climate change, recognising common but differentiated responsibilities and respective capabilities. Its long-term temperature objective includes keeping warming well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels. The framework addresses mitigation, adaptation, loss and damage, finance, technology development and transfer, capacity-building, transparency and progress reviews. It supports greater resilience and emissions reduction capacity, including finance, technology and capacity-building support for developing countries, particularly least developed countries and small island states.
